Joanne Scott
Registered Midwife
Hi I'm Jo. Congratulations on your pregnancy! I am a self-employed lead maternity carer (LMC) based in Miramar. I can offer you continuity of midwifery care throughout your pregnancy, labour and birth, and 4-6 weeks postnatally. My aim as a midwife is to facilitate a safe and positive childbirth experience. I believe that an important part of this process is information sharing and informed consent, to enable you to make choices that you feel are best for you and your baby. On a personal level, my husband and I have 3 adult children. I have been an LMC for over 11 years now and prior to that have worked as a nurse for 20+ years. I love my work and I work alongside my practice partners Katherine, Liz, Emily, Ella and Lauren. Our goal is to give excellent quality maternity care and I try to give priority to women living in the Eastern suburbs. NB, if I appear unavailable but you know you will be having a planned caesarean, please make contact, as I can probably take you on :)
All enquiries welcome. Please contact me on jo.miramarmidwives@gmail.com
Katherine Hoshino
Registered Midwife
Hello! My name is Katherine. Congratulations on your pregnancy! I am a registered midwife with over 11 years experience based in Rongotai and I work alongside my practice partners Jo Scott, Liz Dentice, Emily Maclaurin and Ella Hard at Miramar Midwives. I am originally from Wellington, but I have also lived in Japan for 15 years. I became passionate about midwifery following my own children’s births in Japan, and I realised I wanted to work with women and their families to help them to achieve a safe and positive birth experience. I have a unique understanding of some of the challenges women face when birthing away from family, in an unfamiliar maternity system. I am passionate about information sharing and supporting women and their families to make decisions that best meet their and their babies needs. I will work with you during those first few magical weeks of your baby's life to support you with breastfeeding and baby care.
All enquires welcome. Please email me on katherine.miramarmidwives@gmail.com.

Tēnē koe, and congratulations on your pregnancy.!
I'm a Lead Maternity Carer (LMC) midwife, passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based care that's truely centred around you. My aim is to support and empower you and your whānau throughout your pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period, so you feel informed, confident and well-supported every step of the way. I practice a weight-neutral, Health at Every Size approach.
I offer antenatal appointments in Newtown on Monday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.. After your pēpi arrives, I'll provide postnatal care in your home for 4-6 weeks.
NB - if I appear unavailable but you're planning an elective caesarean section, please feel free to get in touch anyway - I may still be able to accomodate you.
When I am not working, you'll usually find me knitting, baking sourdough, or enjoying time with my whānau.
